Best Nose Hair Trimmer

One of the most annoying things that happens to us as we age is growing hair where we don’t want it, (like the nose) and losing hair where we do. Though we can’t do much about the latter, we can solve problem hair growth coming out of the nose quite easily.

If you’ve noticed pesky nose hairs and want to deal with them, we’ve compiled a list of the best nose hair trimmers that will take care of the issue with very little effort at all.

Top 6 Nose Hair Trimmers

So, what is the best nose hair trimmer? We’ve tried many and shortlisted it to six of them to help you in your quest for a hair-free nose!

Manscaped – The Weed Wacker

Best Rechargeable Trimmer

The Manscaped trimmer is a top-of-the-range nose and ear hair trimmer. As soon as it arrived, we were impressed with its luxury, sleek design and quality packaging – and first impressions count!

It wasn’t just its looks that impressed us. After trying out this aptly named “Weed Whacker,” we were impressed with the results too.

MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer – 9,000 RPM Precision Tool with Rechargeable Battery, Wet/Dry, Easy to Clean, Hypoallergenic Stainless Steel Replaceable Blade This is a battery-powered trimmer that has replaceable stainless steel blades. These dual blades rotate through 360 degrees and use SkinSafe Technology.

It has a powerful motor running at 9,000 RPM that is powered by a 600 mAh lithium-ion battery, which runs for around 90 minutes before needing to be recharged – that’s a lot of nose hair trimming time! The tip itself is hypoallergenic and won’t pull, nick or cut.

What’s great about this is just how much the manufacturers have thought about every little detail. The tip of the trimmer is angled at 23 degrees. This is so that it perfectly mirrors the contours of your nose for intelligent and precise trimming.

In order to charge the device, you have an AC adapter and a USB cable, which means charging on the go wherever you are. Out of all of the trimmers in this review, this is the only one to be rechargeable and so you don’t need to go hunting around for spare batteries when it runs out of charge!

The packaging says the device is 100% waterproof. It can be immersed in water at one metre deep for thirty minutes, which is impressive. Not only does this mean easy cleaning and rinsing under the tap, but it also means you can use this in the shower should you wish. In the name of product testing, we actually tried this, and it was fine – although we did prefer being able to see what we were doing in a mirror!

All in all, the Manscaped Weed Whacker is an effective product that does the job well. Yes, it is at the higher end of the price range for nose hair trimmers, but it certainly feels worth the money when you use it.

Philips Nose Hair Trimmer

The Most Reasonably Priced Trimmer

When you look for a great hair trimmer, it’s always good to look at the reviews and popularity of the device. The Philips Nose Hair Trimmer, Series 3000 has been rated over 18,000 times and has an average rating of 4.1 out of five. When you take into account just how few people bother reviewing their purchases, there have been huge numbers of this trimmer purchased, which tells you just how great its reputation is.

Reputation and rating aside, this trimmer is very reasonably priced – even at its RRP.

Looks-wise, this doesn’t look as swish as the Manscaped trimmer but remember not to judge a book by its cover!

Philips Nose Hair Trimmer, Series 3000 Nose, Ear and Eyebrow Trimmer Showerproof with Protective Guard System, Battery-Operated, No pulling - NT3650/16 In terms of function, you can’t fault it. It does what it’s meant to do, and it does it well. It has a Protective Guard System, which means the blades never touch your skin. You’ll be able to trim nose hair without pulls, tugs, nicks or cuts.

The Philips trimmer uses PrecisionTrim technology. This is an innovative way of cutting that has two sides to ensure that all hairs are cut no matter the direction or angle of hair growth. The blades are also made to last thanks to their stainless steel design. You don’t need to oil them and you can clean them really easily.

As well as trimming nose hair, this trimmer can be used for ears and eyebrows too. For eyebrow use, there is a special eyebrow comb to ensure that the length of the remaining eyebrow hair is the perfect length. You can choose between two comb lengths, 3mm and 5mm. We tested them both out – one on each side – and they were great. Don’t worry, we did even them out!

One downside of this trimmer is that it is battery powered. Unlike rechargeable electric trimmers, the Philips trimmer needs one AA battery. This is fine as long as you have them to hand but could be quite annoying if you’re travelling and the battery runs out. Also, unlike other trimmers, this is water resistant rather than waterproof. This means it’s ok to run under water for washing but you shouldn’t use it in the shower.

Panasonic ER GN30

The Most Popular Trimmer

You know we were pleased with the 18,000 ratings of the Philips nose trimmer above? Well, our third nose trimmer in this review has been rated over 32,000 times. That’s a lot of nose hair trimmed! Not only that, but the average rating of this trimmer was 4.4 out of 5, which is just incredible from so many ratings. It’s safe to say that we were dying to see if this trimmer lived up to these expectations!

The Panasonic ER GN30 did not disappoint. We found the detailed trimming to be very precise on both nasal hair, ears and eyebrows. The Panasonic ER-GN30 Wet and Dry Electric Nose, Ear and Facial Hair Trimmer for Men trimmer has a dual-edge blade, which means it cuts hair from both the sides as well as the top and we found that no hairs were missed. We didn’t experience the niggles or tugs like you do with some trimmers either.

In terms of cleaning, this trimmer is excellent. It has an innovative system called the Vortex Cleaning System, which sounds as fancy as it is. In essence, it means you don’t have to remove the head to rinse out the hairs, which saves a lot of time and effort.

What’s more, this trimmer is fully waterproof so you can use it in the shower should you wish to. Again, we tested this but still prefer the sink and mirror approach!

It is cordless and like the Philips, takes one AA battery. So, as long as you always have a spare battery with you, you can take it anywhere without worrying about charging it up on different voltages. One battery should allow for 90 minutes of trimming, which is a lot!

The packaging also mentions facial hair detailing and can be used to neaten up beards and edges of facial hair for a precise look.

All in all, a great trimmer and a great price – it must be if 32,000 people have rated it!

Wahl GroomEase

The Trimmer With The Most Value For Money

Why pay over the odds when you can get a trimmer for under £5? Yes, you heard right – this Wahl GroomEase is very reasonably priced yet GroomEase by Wahl Ear and Nose Trimmer, Personal Trimmer, Trimmers for Men and Women, Nose Ear and Eyebrow Trimming, Rinse Clean Blade, Easy to Use, Cordlessstill gets good ratings! Its average rating  is 4 out of 5 and this comes from over 3,000 reviews, so it’s pretty reliable.

So, what can you expect for such a low-priced product? Well, the Wahl brand is renowned for its high-quality. Though this is a simple trimmer, it does what it needs to do. The blade is guarded for a precise, yet pain-free trim and the head can be removed for cleaning. The head is designed to prevent pulling and clogging and so your trimming experience won’t be painful with caught hairs.

Though it isn’t waterproof, you can rinse the blades under water to clean them. Unlike some trimmers that don’t require oiling, the Wahl GroomEase needs blade maintenance in order to maximise battery life and power for optimum performance.

It’s a pocket-sized trimmer and is easy to store. If you travel frequently for business or leisure, then this will help you keep on top of your annoying nose and ear hairs while on the move.

Babyliss E110E

The Best 3-in-1 Trimmer

The Babyliss E110E isn’t the most modern-looking nose trimmer but that actually doesn’t matter. After all, it’s the lack of nose hair that we want people to notice and not the look of our trimmer!

BaByliss E110E - Hair Trimmer for Nose, Ears and Eyebrows Despite being a household name, this Babyliss trimmer isn’t as popular as others we tested and has less than 1000 ratings. That said, it still has a great average of 4.4 out of 5!

This is a mid-range 3-in-1 trimmer for the nose, ears, and eyebrows. There is a three tapered blade system in a diamond shape, which is excellent for getting into curved areas and means that hairs won’t pull or snag. There are also two eyebrow guides, one that’s 3mm and another that’s 5mm. You can also use these for detailing sideburns, moustaches and beards.

You can wash all of the heads for easy cleaning but it doesn’t say that it is fully waterproof, so we’d advise against trying this in the shower or with a wet shave.

Like many other products we reviewed, this works with a single AA battery (included), which is good in that you don’t need to wait for it to charge. However, you always need to make sure you have a spare battery to hand as you never know when it could run out.

It comes with a handy storage case for ease when travelling too.

In summary, it wasn’t our favourite trimmer, but it did the job we needed it to do.

Wahl 3-in-1

The Most Reasonably Priced 3-in-1 Trimmer

The Wahl 3-in-1 is another well-priced trimmer. This is designed to be a multi-use item (as its name suggests) and can be used to trim hair from the nose, ears, eyebrows, face, sideburns and beard.

In terms of ratings, this isn’t a popular ear trimmer compared to some we tried, but it does have an average rating of 4.2 out of 5, from just under a thousand reviews.

Wahl 3-In-1 Personal Trimmer, Trimmers for Men and Women, Nose Ear and Eyebrow Trimmer, Washable Heads, Trim Sideburns and Facial Hair, Peach Fuzz Trimming, Cordless It has three heads: the trimmer head, the detail head, and the rotary head.

The trimmer head is perfect for neatening up eyebrows, sideburns and other facial hair. When we tested this, we were impressed by how versatile it was.

The detail head is the one for your nose hair, eyebrows, and ears. We found it to be very detailed and precise in its trim.

Finally, the rotary head was perfect for those hard-to-reach places in the nose and ears. It didn’t pull the hairs and trimming was painless and effective.

All of these trimmer heads are easily removed for washing.

The Wahl uses a single AA battery (included), which makes it ideal for travelling and keeping anywhere in the home.

It isn’t waterproof so you shouldn’t use this in the shower or with a wet shave, though you can remove the heads to rinse them.

For the price you pay, yet again Wahl provide excellent value for money.

Nose Trimming Tips

Don’t forget, you’re inserting an electrical trimmer close to a delicate part of your face. For this reason, it’s important to always read the instructions carefully before use. This will ensure you have the best results – and also that you avoid injuring yourself.

To get the best out of your trimmer, position yourself in front of a well-lit mirror and tilt your head back. You will find that the trimmer will fit inside the nostril easily – you don’t need to force it (and shouldn’t force it either).

Trimmers are designed with covered blades, so they won’t nick your skin. Occasionally, you might find a hair is pulled, which is painful but not dangerous.

Though nose hairs are annoying and unsightly, remember that they do serve a purpose. With this in mind, make sure you don’t go too far up the nostril. You should only trim the hairs that are visible out of the nostril. Leave higher-up hairs alone as they protect the body from inhaling pollutants.

As grim as it sounds, nose hairs work alongside nasal mucus to trap pollen, germs and dust. These pollutants are expelled when you sneeze or blow your nose. These hairs are an excellent barrier to these pollutants and are a clever part of evolution. Apparently, humans are likely to have evolved in a dry, dusty climate, which is potentially why we have hairier nostrils than our ape relatives! Thankfully, we have electric trimmers to keep the hairs at bay!

Verdict

We had great fun testing these six best nose hair trimmers and it’s safe to say they all did a sterling job! If you want a plug-in rechargeable nose trimmer, the Manscaped one wins hands down, but if you are swayed by a cheaper price tag, the Wahl GroomEase is a great choice. We love the fact it can be charged via USB, which means it’s easy to take anywhere without worrying about different countries and their voltages. With battery-operated ones, as long as you have spare batteries to hand, you’ll never notice the difference.

Overall, the Manscaped one looked and functioned the best but we were pleased with them all. What’s great is that there is something for all budgets on this list too.

Happy nose hair trimming!
